Help Rats in Moscow!

Posted in Uncategorized by Sara on the January 1st, 2006

Thank you Svetlana, for the following information: For all the rat and pet lovers: please help! Forward this message to friends and pet rat forums and websites. There is a disco in Moscow (http://www.zonaclub.ru/) where they keep LIVE RATS under the glass floor, as a “scenic decoration”. People tried to write their protests on the forum of this disco but everything is immediately deleted. As an answer, they said: “The rats reproduce, this mean they’re well”. It was no use explaining that rats reproduce always everywhere, that pregnant rats have special needs and that nobody sknows what happens to the offspring. Please help us to make this protest stronger: - forward this email to other pet-rat lovers - write an email (in English is ok) to the disco, against this cruel habit of keeping live pet rats in awful conditions only to amuse their clients. The e-mail address fo the disco is info@zonaclub.ru Zonaclub in english: http://www.moscow-hotels-russia.com/zone_club.htm “There are two dance floors occupying the ground and first levels of the club. There for the first time in the history of Moscow night life such devices as dance floor with changing level, rotating bar- roundabout, transparent floor and live white rats under the glass have been used. ” http://www.harderfaster.net/text/features/10950

It is a sad time when the pathetic human race, hungry for limp ‘entertainment’, uses sentient beings (rats) to liven up their floorshow to spice up their dreary lives.

No Masters No Slaves. No Gods No Masters.

    Leave the animals alone.

The keeping of rats in a night club like this for entertainment is absolutely vile and should not be allowed in a civilized country. I think it does not put Russia in a good light and I will politely write to the night club and ask them to withdraw this ghastly spectacle.

This is utterly barbaric. How could anyone use such loving creatures for floor decoration? Someone with no morals or compassion obviosly.

This is awful! How would you feel if you were kept in such conditions? And it’s a disco, which means that the bass drive will problably be excrutiating to such sensitive ears. I’m telling everyone I know!

Animal abuse. Plain and simple. They should be crammed into a glass dance floor, let the people trample around on top of them for a while. I’m sure they would not enjoy it, just as sure as I am that the rats don’t. I am a rat owner, this sickens me. Thank you for letting me express my views. Peace.

I don’t think it’s that russians are somehow more cruel to animals than other people, as a matter of fact I think the same kind of abuse would also happen in a New York disco, it’s just that over here laws against cruelty towards animals are enforced. Since so much of Russia operates outside the law I would find it more than fitting that if the laws can not be enforced - or is not enforced out of expediency and/or corruption - that someone take the matter in their own hands and douse the owner of the disco with gasoline and set him or her ablaze so he really catches that “saturday night fever” and screams it out for everyone to hear from downtown Moscow all the way to St. Petersburg.

This is completely disrespectful to the poor rats. No animal deserves that kind of treatment. I will definetly help spread the word.

There is eventually not going to be enough room for them all the should just put them up for adoption or something. Give them a home where they can be loved otherwise their not going live anymore!

This is utterly disgusting. I will tell everyone I know. I do hope there will be better treatment to rats in Russia in the near future. Rats are Always Adorable!

In a world where we complain for more gruesome scenes in horror movies and at the same time are disgusted by the news because of the countless atrocities that are committed against people and animals – these types of actions are overwhelming and never stop hurting my heart. I can’t imagine the type of conversation that took place to come up with the idea to place rats under a floor of a disco…for entertainment purposes or anything else for that matter. Animals are to love, not to abuse. Maybe if more people got that concept down, I could stomach the news and all of my pet rats would be from reputable breeders instead of rescues. I loves my rescue boys more than anything, I just hate that their life started off on a bad note – like the notes being played in that disco.

This is horrible. My rats jump at the sound of our vaccuum cleaner, so under the dancefloor of a disco must be absolute torture. I’ve emailed them to tell them to stop, hopefully if enough people do then they might consider it.

I can’t imagine how terrified those poor little ratties must be. :(

Can someone please post their complete snailmail address as well as an appropriate email address to contact the people at this club? Thanks so much!

ABSOLUTLY HORRIBLE. those barbaric gas heads should THINK before they DO. There are many different things to decorate with other than cute little animals that never did anything to them. That is cruelty to animals in all ways. Ill post it on all rat forums i know to spread the word, and ill tell every rat lover i know. hopefully in the next month or so, there will be enough protesters to STOP THE NASTY PIECES OF DUNG BEETLE FOOD

I have read about this on other sites and am wondering if it is still going on since the original comment is from 1/06. I will do anything in my power to help stop such a despicable thing from continuing, if it is indeed still going on. If anyone knows, please send an updated comment.

its no different than when banksy (uk graffiti artist) had an exhibition a couple years ago where people would walk round a small room posing as a galery & there would be about 30 live pet rats running around the floor. no one did anything to stop that & that was in london
