Hello, i dont know where to post this, but my rat doesnt seem that well. I got him about 4 days ago, he was supposedly one of the most young ones, there were small medim and lare rats. I got the small one. I named him Hobo and he was really cool. I didnt attmept to pick him up til bout a day after i got him. He is very nervous, doenst play almost at all, he just stays in his Bush’s Baked bean can allday (he loves that)when he does come out, he is as astiff as a board, doesnt move, he is like in a catatonic state. when i try to pick him up, his breathing is very mechanical and rough, and he is stiff, and after a couple seconds he squeals like he is in excrutiating pain and runs off. that is if i pick him. he absolutely wont it or stay ON my hand. I called the vet and they said to take him in, but i wanted to try to get help first. and i was thinking about ge tting another for him to play with is that good, they are in a 10gal. tank with the can,a brown bag toy that i made, aa food dish, OH that remeinds me, i dont think he is eating, the dish never is less full, the water is gone every night, but no food??? Please help me ASAP!!!

Hey Sara, i got a new rat, a red eyed white one. Hes younger and better, htey r treating Hobo and willl let me know what happens. how do u bathe a rat?

I have a couple questions. My new rat is very good, he is more curious and energetic, but i can tell that he doesnt like to be held. But it doesnt hurt him like the last one, he just…doesnt like it, he wills tay for couple sec. and then wiggle out of my hand, or just jump off. is there a way to condition him to like my hand? also, how can you give a rat a bath or whatever,, do you have to, i would hink you would, right? and also, he doenst seem to like recieveing treats, i tr to give it to him , he wont eat it, so i put it in his dies, then he eats it when im not there… is he just nervous? Thank you

hi , my name’s jessica and i’ve had gerbils for 4 yrs, sadly though, they have died. so latly i’ve been doing some resurch but i thought it would be better hearing it from some1. i’ve been looking into rats, and i think they would be a good choose. and because of this , im here. so if any1 has any advise that would be great! like maybe what type of rat lives longest ( most i’ve seen live up to 2 yrs but i want something to last) and so on….so any help that would be great…thanks!

Hi, i am quite worried about my rat Gurtrude, well when i first got my rat she was fine then a couple of weeks later after I had her she started chewing on her arms. Now I have had her for about 6 months now and she now has both her arms chewed to scabs and she was bleeding out of her nose. I am very worried about her I think she may be dying but I am not sure please help me I dont want my rat to die.

Hi,I’m thinking about getting a rat, but can i afford it? I know feathers and fur are a good deal, but I haven’t checked their prices. What do you think? I been thinking maybe I have plenty of pets because I have a dog, rabbit, and two turtles. My dad has a bird and my brother has some fish. My rabbit lives out side in he’s cozy hutch and my turtles live under my play ground as there fenced in. They hide in the hay I give them so I can’t play with them and my rabbit is too big for me to take out of his cage and he hates when I do it in the winter! (giant American checkered rabbit) WHAT DO I DO,PLEASE TELL ME!
Can you please help me? My moms best friend hastwo girl rats. One is pregnant. I get to have only one of the babies!!!! YAY!!! But I keep hearing I need two. And even though my mom and dad can go to the petstore to get one, we dont have that kind of money. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my kids each have a male rat (we have 2 rats), they are great!!!!!!! the kids love them, we have a 20 gal tank for them. their home is an old plastic wipe box, we use old news papers for their bedding in the house (wipe box). we use cedar shavings for the bedding in their tank. we feed them dog food, bird seed, cereal (they love sweets), & some times for a treat we give them small jawbrakers (it helps to keep them from chewing on their house, we also buy them the flavored wood that you can get in any pet isle at any store that sells pet supplies. they are wonderful pets they are never aggressive, the worse thing they have ever done is leave little scratchs when they try to climb up one of the kids shirts to hide. we love them, they are great first time pets for kids bc they are not aggressive live other small pets. And they are great long term pets for some one who has had one or hasnt and they are easy to fall in love with….
