Leroy, Skillet and Rascal

In the past three months I have lost three good friends.

Leroy was a present from my boyfriend on Valentine’s day. He was a rex dumbo rat who was white and grey. He had a great personality and enjoyed many kinds of food except he didn’t like fruits and vegtables. He was euthanized two months ago because of cancer.

Skillet was purchased as a companion for Leroy. He was found in a nasty pet store who had rodents mostly just as feeders. I had done some research and decided to drop my hand in an aquarium of about thirty rats, to see if anyone was interested. Out of the great mass emerged the cutest ugliest rat I had ever seen. He was a double rex dumbo who had a patch of fur on his buttisimo and nowhere else. He had an adventurous spirit and a very funny personality. I miss him dearly.

Today Rascal went into surgery to have a mass removed, I had a really good feeling that he was going to be fine (I’m usually not the most positive thinker). I received a call from the vet saying the surgery went well and he was doing fine, and about 30 minutes later I got a call saying he was dead. I really wish I would have realized that this morning would be our last morning together.

I have one rat named shoe left and I know he is lonely.

To Leroy, Skillet and Rascal

You were wonderful companions with unique personalities. Shoe, Mike and I will never forget you.

RIP
